Copyright & takedown

Last updated: 19 August 2026
In short: Our original notes and branding are ours. Third-party books, lecture slides, and exam papers are not for sale here. If you own copyright and believe we hosted your work, tell us. We aim to review and, where appropriate, take it down within 48 hours of a complete notice.

1. What SimplyMed claims

We claim copyright in original text, audio, graphics, quizzes, and compilation we create. Buyers get a personal study licence only — see the Terms of Use.

2. What we do not claim

We do not claim ownership of:

Content is described as personal student notes. Names of standard references may appear as the topics we studied — not as a licence from those publishers.

3. If you find infringing material

Rights holders (or their agent) should send a notice on WhatsApp via the About page (currently +27 82 975 9342) with the subject line or opening words Copyright takedown notice.

Include all of the following so we can act:

Incomplete notices may be delayed while we ask for the missing pieces.

4. Our 48-hour target

After we receive a complete notice, we aim to review and, if the claim is reasonably clear, remove or disable access to the material within 48 hours. Complex or disputed claims may take longer. We may tell the user who uploaded the file, if we can identify them.

This 48-hour target is an operational commitment, not a waiver of any legal defence, and not an admission of infringement.

5. Counter-notice

If we take something down and you believe it was a mistake (for example you hold a licence, or the work is your original notes), write to us with identification of the material, a good-faith statement, and your contact details. We may restore the material if the law allows and the claim is not pursued.

6. Repeat abuse

We may suspend accounts that repeatedly post or distribute infringing files.

7. Linking and fair dealing

We may link to third-party tools. South African copyright law includes limited exceptions (for example fair dealing for criticism, review, or study). We do not rely on users to interpret those exceptions for patient care or for wholesale copying of textbooks into decks.
