SimplyMed is an independent study resource created by medical students and young doctors in South Africa. We are not a university, hospital, clinic, or registered healthcare practice. Nothing on this site creates a doctor–patient, lecturer–student, or professional-advisory relationship with you.
Flashcards, podcasts, quizzes, Disease of the Day cases, resources, and any other SimplyMed material are educational study materials only.
Content is based on our personal study notes and learning systems. It is a summarised, simplified companion to coursework — not a primary source, not a textbook, and not a replacement for lectures, prescribed reading, or supervised clinical training.
Where SimplyMed and your curriculum, lecturer, or hospital protocol disagree, defer to your curriculum, lecturers, and supervising clinicians.
SimplyMed is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by any university (including Stellenbosch University or any other South African medical school), the HPCSA, the Department of Health, RemNote, Anki, AMBOSS, or any textbook publisher. University names, degree names (MB ChB), and third-party product names are used only to describe the audience or tools students already use.

Medicine, guidelines, drug information, and local protocols change. We try to keep content useful, but we make no warranty that any item is complete, accurate, error-free, or up to date when you see it. Content may be outdated, oversimplified, or wrong.
Quizzes, Disease of the Day, flashcards, and similar tools are informal self-tests. They are not HPCSA examinations, university assessments, or a measure of clinical competence. Scores do not certify anything.
If we add AI-generated or AI-assisted explanations, those outputs can be confidently wrong. Verify against authoritative sources before you rely on them for study — and never for patient care.
Career-path pages, checklists, and similar material are informal peer guidance from our experience, not career counselling, immigration advice, employment advice, or mental-health care. Training posts, community-service allocations, and selection criteria change. Confirm anything that affects your career with official sources.
You use SimplyMed entirely at your own risk and discretion.
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law (including the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, where it applies), SimplyMed and its founders, operators, and contributors are not liable for loss, damage, injury, death, exam results, academic standing, career outcomes, or any other consequence arising from use of or reliance on this site or its content — including content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded (for example, for gross negligence or fraud where the law does not allow a waiver).
The site is aimed at adult students. If you are under 18, you may use SimplyMed only with a parent or guardian’s consent, and they accept these Terms on your behalf.
When you buy, we may create an account so you can access content, track progress, and receive files. Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us if you think it has been misused.
Paid and free content is licensed to you for your personal study only. You may not copy, scrape, republish, resell, share login details, upload decks to public libraries, or give files to people who have not paid (or been given free access by us).
We may suspend access if we reasonably believe the licence has been abused.
Prices are in South African rand unless we say otherwise. Payment is processed by PayFast (or another processor we name at checkout). We do not store your full card details.
Digital content is usually delivered or unlocked immediately. Once access is granted, purchases are generally non-refundable, except where the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002, or other applicable law requires otherwise, or we choose to refund as a goodwill gesture.
If a file fails to arrive, contact us and we will try to complete delivery. That is not an admission of broader liability.
Chargebacks made in bad faith after you have received content may lead to account closure.
You must not: break the law; attack or overload the site; bypass paywalls; harvest other users’ data; upload malware; or use content to treat patients. Do not submit another person’s personal information in order notes without a lawful basis.
Checkout, hosting, accounts, email, and storage may involve PayFast, Supabase, Google, RemNote, WhatsApp, and similar providers. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for third-party sites or apps we link to.
SimplyMed branding and original content we create are owned by us or licensed to us. Third-party marks remain their owners’. Takedown process: Copyright & takedown.
How we process personal information is described in the Privacy Notice (POPIA). By using the site you acknowledge that notice.
We may change, pause, or stop features. We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. For material changes to paid access, we will try to notify account holders where practical.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. South African courts have jurisdiction, without limiting any non-waivable consumer rights you have.
